Littlebredy Church - Reroofing
Client : The PCC St Michael & All Angels, Littlebredy ; Architect : John Stark Crickmay Partnership [Works : 2018]
The works consisted of a partial re-roof of the stone tiled roof, replacement of lead valley and flashings. Stonework repair to stone spire (by our sub contractor Tudor Masonry). A very satisfying job and it is always a privilege to work on such a beautiful building in a idyllic setting.
The church and spire was scaffolded by South Western Scaffolding with sheeting to enclose the works.
Below : The defective lead valley was removed, the timber layer boards were reconstructed to give correct bay sizes & falls. New leadwork installed with steps & cover flashings

Left : Stone tiles removed and roofs temporarily sheeted.
Above : Works progress with the existing Purbeck stone tiles carefully removed, sorted and refixed in diminishing courses. New Purbeck stone tiles (to replace damaged ones) were sourced from Lovell's quarry in Purbeck and all tiles were cut to size before being fixed with copper nails.

Since completion in 2018, the roof has weathered down to an even appearance.
